Our team for the Androscoggin Hospice House 5k!!
The children’s 1 mile fun run!!
The kids did an excellent job and were so darn cute! It was an early, chilly, Sunday morning, but we all made the best of it. We even made it to church after. Big thumbs up there!
Now, I had some pictures of the rest of us running/walking, but I can’t seem to find them for the life of me. It was a great day for all of us, and we ran for such an amazing cause.
I’m in hopes of really getting a team together for next year. I didn’t find out about this until it was almost upon me. How did we not ever know about this going on in our very own home town??? Quite the townies we are…
In case you’ve never heard or known what this cause is all about, let me inform you here:
The Androscoggin Hospice House 5k raises money for patients and loved ones that can’t afford to be there. All of the money that is raised for this event and the one in Lewiston goes just to these particular people. They don’t want to turn anyone away, so they have a special fund just for this. Just last year alone, they were able to pay for over 50 patients to stay and receive the care that they so desperately needed. This eases the minds of all involved in these hard times. No one wants to have to worry about medical bills and such expenses when they have a loved one failing.
My mother spent her last days here, and she was taken care of so well by all the nurses and doctor here. My grandfather also stayed for a short time, before he passed away, and I say the same about his care. I’m proud to be able to do whatever I can for this spectacular cause. If you’d like to know more about this, I’m adding a link to the bottom, so you can have a read.
