Julia Childs and Tulips



Amy hosted a themed ladies night out at her place the other night. It was a lovely event full of Julia Child’s French recipes, wonderful friends and gorgeous yellow tulips. These ladies are such a big part of my life. We all attend the same church, and just have a bond that way. I’m so thankful for ALL of the friends that I have.

She had bought some absolutely adorable knife spreaders at a local kitchen store called Mixed Up, which has all kinds of really cool stuff. Check them out! Amy bought one for each of us to take home. So cute.



The food was absolutely delicious! There were six of us in all, and we each brought something made from one of her recipes. Amy made Artichokes with Hollandaise Sauce, Poached Flounder in a white wine sauce and Boeuf Bourguignon. Cindy made Braised Cucumbers, Theresa made French Onion Soup, Marlene made Chocolate Mousse, Kylie made three loves of French Bread and brought some delicious French red wine. I made Grateau ‘a L’Orange (Orange Sponge Cake). This cake took FOREVER!!! But it was worth it. It was all so yummy. We all dressed up and had a wonderful time together!


Her centerpiece was gorgeous yellow tulips in quart size mason jars. I absolutely loved it, as you can tell- I never even took any pictures of the food! This was what caught my attention. They were stunning. Forgive me- there are so many pictures of them, but I couldn’t help myself!





This was an excursion to remember and one that we want to keep doing every now and then. We’re thinking each time we do this, we’d like to make recipes from one cook, but have it be a different cook each time. I guess we’ll see what the next one brings! I’ll keep you posted!
